When designing a new intake system for a turbocharged engine, three critical factors are crucial: filtration, airflow and thermal management. Our do88 intake system is designed to optimize these elements: air filtration, improved airflow and low intake temperatures for the turbos. The design of the air filter boxes - including their shape, volume and the materials used - is precisely tuned to maximize airflow to the engine and therefore improve performance.
Increased intake air temperatures negatively impact engine performance as the turbos must generate boost pressure using hotter, less dense air. Therefore, a fully sealed intake system is essential to minimize intake air temperatures (IATs). However, such a system presents a challenge due to its restrictive nature as it relies solely on the stock air intakes at the bottom of the air box for air intake. During development, it became apparent that to remove this restriction, the system required additional fresh air intakes. To address this, we introduced additional air intake openings behind the headlights on each side. To ensure sufficient air volume around the air boxes, we designed large 7.8" air boxes which also provided sufficient clearance for the CSL strut bar.
To replace the stock plastic intake pipes, we have designed large, smooth carbon fiber pipes. These start at 105mm (4.1") diameter at the air filter end and taper seamlessly to 3.25" to match our custom turbo air intakes. Attached to our carbon fiber pipes is our large, custom designed air filter. This filter features a tightly woven cotton gauze that ensures clean airflow. Designed for durability and efficiency, the filter is washable and reusable, promoting optimal performance and an extended lifespan.
Unlike most aftermarket intake systems, we have taken the extra steps by developing custom turbo air intakes that replace the restrictive stock plastic intakes. Original equipment (OE) features port sizes of just 61mm and 72mm. In contrast, our custom cast aluminum turbo air intakes have significantly larger 83mm ports. To ensure the versatility and durability of our system, we have implemented an innovative seal and adapter sleeve design. Our cast air intakes provide a 53.6mm opening to our supercharger housing inlet sleeves, superior in flow diameter to the OE parts. We seal to the flat bolt flange surface, not the tube insert side. This design allows our turbo air intakes to be compatible with both OE and hybrid turbos, such as the Pure S58 STG2+ and TTE940, by incorporating different sleeves that match the inside diameter of the compressor housing and our turbo air intakes, ensuring a seamless fit.

Washable air filter for optimal performance and long life. We recommend cleaning the air filter every 20,000 km, please use a universal cleaning product designed for cotton air filters. For example, you can use BMC detergent with part number “WADET500”.
